Purnia is the commercial centre of the Seemanchal region in north-eastern Bihar; its Gulabbagh mandi is one of the largest maize markets in the country, and the district is a major producer of makhana and banana. Our GST return service for businesses in Purnia covers monthly and quarterly filing, input-credit reconciliation before each return and a reminder ahead of every due date.

Serving businesses in Purnia online: sales and purchase data reaches us over WhatsApp, email or a software export; reconciled returns and acknowledgements go back to you before the due date.

Serving businesses in Purnia online. Our team works from Noida, Uttar Pradesh — we do not run a branch in Purnia. Documents are shared over WhatsApp or email and every filing is made on the official government portal.

GST return filing in Purnia: what the work involves

Regular taxpayers file GSTR-1 for outward supplies and GSTR-3B for the summary and tax payment, monthly or — under the QRMP scheme for turnover up to ₹5 crore — quarterly with monthly payment. Composition taxpayers file CMP-08 each quarter and GSTR-4 annually. Above the notified turnover limit (currently ₹2 crore) the annual return GSTR-9 is added. Every period needs a return, including nil periods.

For businesses in Bihar: the registration threshold is ₹40 lakh of turnover for goods and ₹20 lakh for services, quarterly filers under QRMP file GSTR-3B by the 24th of the month following the quarter, and anyone supplying to another state — or selling goods through an online marketplace — generally needs registration from the first sale.

GST in Purnia: the local business picture

Maize defines Purnia’s trade. In the weeks after harvest, Gulabbagh mandi handles grain from across Seemanchal, bought by traders and aggregators for starch, feed and ethanol plants and loaded onto rakes and trucks for other states. Maize as unprocessed grain is exempt, but the trade around it — commission, bagging, warehousing, transport, and sale to buyers in other states — raises registration and e-way bill questions. Makhana processing and the city’s role as wholesale supplier to four districts complete the picture.

Maize traders and aggregators

Exempt grain, but inter-state movement, warehousing and commission to examine.

Transporters loading from the mandi

Agricultural-produce transport exemption applied correctly, with consignment notes.

Wholesalers supplying Seemanchal

Credit reconciliation and e-way bills for dispatch to neighbouring districts.

GST points for the main business types here

Agri Traders & Input Dealers. Seed, fertiliser and pesticide dealers handle a mix of exempt, 5% and higher-rated goods, and their sales swing sharply with the sowing season. Returns have to report exempt and taxable supplies separately, and credit on common expenses has to be reversed in proportion. Fresh produce is largely exempt, but branded or packaged goods, commission agency and cold storage are not always so.

Wholesalers & Distributors. Wholesale trade runs on thin margins and large invoice counts, so the return is only as good as the purchase reconciliation behind it. We match every distributor and company invoice to GSTR-2B, chase the ones that are missing and make sure credit notes for schemes and rate differences are reported in the right month.

Transporters & Logistics. For someone who owns goods vehicles, GST turns on the paperwork. Letting a truck on hire to a transporter is exempt; carrying goods on your own consignment note makes you a goods transport agency. A GTA whose customers all pay under reverse charge need not even register. One that opts for forward charge chooses between a lower rate without input credit and a higher rate with credit on trucks, tyres and repairs.

What late or wrong returns cost

  • Mixed exempt-and-taxable dealers who claim full input credit without proportionate reversal are a common target of departmental notices.
  • For wholesalers, a supplier who files late blocks your credit and forces you to pay the tax in cash until it appears.
  • The forward-charge option, once exercised for a year, binds every consignment in that year.
  • Continuous non-filing leads to blocked e-way bills and eventually suspension or cancellation of the GSTIN.
  • Returns older than three years from their due date can no longer be filed at all, so an old backlog cannot be left to “sort out later”.

From your bills to a filed return: our process

  1. Onboarding. We review your registration, past returns and any pending notices so there are no surprises in the first filing.
  2. Monthly data cut-off. By an agreed date each month you share sales, purchases, debit/credit notes and advances — from your billing software or as scanned bills.
  3. Credit check. Purchases are matched invoice by invoice with GSTR-2B; mismatches go back to you as a supplier follow-up list.
  4. Review, file, report. You approve the computation, we file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, and you get the acknowledgements with a month-wise tracker.

“GST consultant near me”: what to look for in Purnia

Nearness matters less for GST return filing in Purnia than it seems: the portal, the payment challan and the acknowledgement are all online, and nothing in the process requires meeting the practitioner after the first conversation.

Returns for businesses in Purnia are prepared at our Patna office. You can reach us by phone or WhatsApp during business hours, and every filing is shared back with you. We do not have an office in Purnia, so if you specifically want someone to collect papers in person, a local practitioner may suit you better — for everything else, distance makes no difference.

GST return filing in Purnia: common questions

A person dealing exclusively in exempt goods such as unprocessed maize is not required to register, even for inter-state sales. If you also earn taxable income — commission, warehousing of processed goods, or sale of taxable products — registration rules apply to you.

If you are registered, yes — exempt and nil-rated sales are reported in the return even though no tax is payable. If you sell only exempt goods you may not need registration at all; that depends on your exact product list, which we check first.

Not until it shows in your GSTR-2B. Credit is restricted to invoices the supplier has reported. We send you a mismatch list each month so you can follow up; once the supplier files, the credit is claimed in that later period.

Only if the truck is used for transporting goods and you pay GST on your freight under the forward-charge option that permits credit. If your customers pay under reverse charge, or you have chosen the lower rate without credit, the tax on the vehicle becomes part of its cost.

We quote a fixed monthly or quarterly fee in writing after looking at your volume of invoices and the returns involved. There is no charge for the first conversation and no fee added afterwards.

QRMP lets taxpayers with turnover up to ₹5 crore file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B quarterly while paying tax monthly by challan. It cuts filings from 24 to 8 a year; buyers can still get monthly credit if you upload invoices through the IFF.
