Vadodara, in central Gujarat, is a centre of the petrochemical, chemical and engineering industries — a major refinery and fertiliser and chemical complexes lie on its outskirts — with industrial estates at Makarpura and Savli and a well-known university. Returns filed from here range from a single Form 16 to audited business accounts, and the Annual Information Statement now shows the department almost everything before you declare it.

Tax VKV Group offers income tax return filing online to taxpayers in Vadodara: you share your documents, we choose the correct form, compare both tax regimes, show you the computation and file only after you approve it.

Serving businesses in Vadodara online. Our team works from Noida, Uttar Pradesh — we do not run a branch in Vadodara. Documents are shared over WhatsApp or email and every filing is made on the official government portal.

Income tax return filing in Vadodara: what is involved

Most returns from Vadodara combine several heads: salary with HRA and perquisites, capital gains from shares, mutual funds or property, rental income and sometimes foreign assets that need separate disclosure. Each is cross-checked with the Annual Information Statement before the old and new regimes are compared and the form — ITR-1 to ITR-4 for individuals — is chosen.

Returns for a financial year are due by 31 July for salaried and other non-business taxpayers, 31 August for business and professional returns without audit, and 31 October where a tax audit applies. From 1 April 2026 the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies and the year is called the “tax year”. Gujarat levies professional tax on salaries; the amount your employer deducts is allowed as a deduction under the old regime. For house rent allowance under the old regime, Vadodara falls in the 40%-of-salary category; the 50% limit applies only to eight notified metro cities.

Income tax in Vadodara: who files and why

Engineers and managers in refinery, chemical and engineering companies, owners of fabrication and manufacturing units, university staff and an investing public typical of Gujarat make up Vadodara’s taxpayers. Many families also have members abroad, with questions of remittances and non-resident accounts. Gujarat levies professional tax, and the HRA limit in Vadodara is 40%.

Income tax by type of taxpayer

Salaried Professionals. For salaried people who invest, the return has grown beyond Form 16. Shares of a foreign parent company received as stock units must be listed in the foreign-assets schedule every year they are held, even when nothing was sold; dividends and sale gains on them are taxable in India, with credit for tax withheld abroad claimed through Form 67. Trading in futures and options is business income, reported with its turnover, not a capital gain.

Firms & Companies. For an audited business the return is the last step of a longer sequence: books closed, TDS returns filed, the audit report uploaded by 30 September and the return by 31 October. Items that auditors must report — loans taken or repaid in cash, payments to relatives, delayed deposits of employees’ PF, and dues to micro and small suppliers unpaid beyond the statutory period — become disallowances in the computation.

Investors & Property Sellers. Gains on listed shares and equity funds held over a year are taxed at 12.5% above ₹1.25 lakh; short-term gains at 20%. Property sold after two years is long-term: 12.5% without indexation, with an option of 20% with indexation for property bought before 23 July 2024. Reinvestment exemptions can remove the tax, but only with the right timing.

Why filing the return properly matters

  • Leaving foreign shares out of the foreign-assets schedule can attract a penalty under the black-money law even when no tax was due.
  • Amounts owed to micro and small enterprises and not paid within the statutory time are disallowed until actually paid.
  • The rebate that makes income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free does not apply to capital gains taxed at special rates.
  • Banks and visa offices usually ask for the returns of the last two or three years, filed on time.
  • A return filed after the due date carries a late fee and interest, and some losses can no longer be carried forward.

How the filing works, step by step

  1. Documents in. You send Form 16 or income details, bank statements and investment proofs — photos over WhatsApp are fine.
  2. Cross-check. We download your AIS and tax statement and match every entry with your papers, so nothing is missed or counted twice.
  3. Computation for approval. You see the tax under both regimes, the refund or tax payable, and confirm before filing.
  4. Filing and e-verification. The return is filed, e-verified with Aadhaar OTP and the acknowledgement sent to you; we watch the refund status afterwards.

Nothing in the filing of an income tax return requires a visit: documents can be photographed, the return is filed on the portal and the verification OTP comes to your own phone. That is why taxpayers in Vadodara can use a team based elsewhere without losing anything.

Returns for taxpayers in Vadodara are prepared at our Patna office, and we are open about not being local. If you would rather hand over papers in person, a practitioner in Vadodara is the better choice; if you want the work done carefully and shown to you before filing, distance is not a barrier.

ITR filing in Vadodara: common questions

Employer contributions to provident fund, NPS and superannuation together are tax-free up to ₹7.5 lakh a year; the excess, and the earnings on that excess, are taxed as a perquisite. Your Form 16 should show the computation.

Three things. The value at vesting is already taxed as salary in Form 16. The holdings must be disclosed in the foreign-assets schedule of the return each year. And dividends or gains on sale are taxable in India, with credit for any tax withheld abroad claimed through Form 67.

An amount payable to a micro or small enterprise is allowed as a deduction only in the year it is actually paid, if it was not paid within the time allowed under the MSME law — 15 days, or up to 45 days where agreed in writing. Year-end creditors of this kind therefore increase taxable profit.

If held for more than two years, the gain is long-term and taxed at 12.5% — or, for property bought before 23 July 2024, the lower of that and 20% with indexation. Buying another house or specified bonds within the time limits can exempt the gain. Send us both deeds and we will compute it.

An intimation after processing is routine — it either confirms your figures or shows an adjustment. A defective-return notice or a query on mismatch needs a reply within the time given. Send us the notice and we will explain it and respond.

The fee is fixed and quoted in writing before we start, based on the type of income — a salary-only return costs less than one with capital gains or business income. The first consultation is free.
