Income Tax Filing in Indore
Online Income Tax Return (ITR) Filing assistance for businesses and individuals in Indore.
Indore is the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh, with long-established cloth and bullion markets, a famous namkeen and street-food culture at Sarafa and Chhappan Dukan, industrial areas at Sanwer Road and nearby Pithampur, and a growing IT sector. Returns filed from here range from a single Form 16 to audited business accounts, and the Annual Information Statement now shows the department almost everything before you declare it.
For taxpayers in Indore our team works remotely — document check, AIS reconciliation, regime comparison, filing and e-verification, with one person answering your questions throughout.
Serving businesses in Indore online. Our team works from Noida, Uttar Pradesh — we do not run a branch in Indore. Documents are shared over WhatsApp or email and every filing is made on the official government portal.
Income tax return filing in Indore: what is involved
Returns from Indore are increasingly pre-filled, and that is the risk: salary, interest, dividends, securities trades and even foreign remittances arrive in the Annual Information Statement, and a return that simply accepts the pre-fill inherits its errors. Proper filing means checking each entry, adding what the statement misses — rent, foreign assets, off-market sales — then choosing the form and the regime with the numbers in front of you.
Returns for a financial year are due by 31 July for salaried and other non-business taxpayers, 31 August for business and professional returns without audit, and 31 October where a tax audit applies. From 1 April 2026 the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies and the year is called the “tax year”. Madhya Pradesh levies professional tax on salaries; the amount your employer deducts is allowed as a deduction under the old regime. For house rent allowance under the old regime, Indore falls in the 40%-of-salary category; the 50% limit applies only to eight notified metro cities.

Who files income tax returns in Indore
Family trading firms — in cloth, grain, bullion and namkeen — are Indore’s typical business taxpayers, many organised as partnerships with several family members. Manufacturers at Pithampur and Sanwer Road file with audit. A younger salaried group works in IT, banking and the service sector. Madhya Pradesh levies professional tax, and the HRA limit in Indore is 40%.
Family partnership firms
Remuneration and interest to partners within limits; audit above the threshold.
Manufacturers
Depreciation, TDS and stock valuation.

What to watch, by type of taxpayer
Shop Owners & Traders. Small businesses can use the presumptive scheme: declare at least 8% of turnover as income (6% for receipts through banks and UPI) and skip detailed books, for turnover up to ₹2 crore — or ₹3 crore where cash receipts stay within 5%. The catch is consistency: declare lower profit, or leave the scheme, and books and audit can become compulsory for five years.
Firms & Companies. A firm or company also collects tax for others. It deducts TDS on salaries, contractors, rent and professional fees — and, for larger buyers, on purchases of goods — deposits it by the 7th of the following month and files a statement every quarter. Its own advance tax is due in four instalments, in June, September, December and March. An expense on which TDS was skipped is partly disallowed, and a late TDS statement costs ₹200 for every day of delay.
Salaried Professionals. For salaried people who invest, the return has grown beyond Form 16. Shares of a foreign parent company received as stock units must be listed in the foreign-assets schedule every year they are held, even when nothing was sold; dividends and sale gains on them are taxable in India, with credit for tax withheld abroad claimed through Form 67. Trading in futures and options is business income, reported with its turnover, not a capital gain.
Why filing the return properly matters
- A trader who declares less than the presumptive rate without audited books invites exactly the scrutiny the scheme was meant to avoid.
- Thirty per cent of an expense is disallowed if tax was not deducted on it — far more than the TDS itself.
- Leaving foreign shares out of the foreign-assets schedule can attract a penalty under the black-money law even when no tax was due.
- A return filed after the due date carries a late fee and interest, and some losses can no longer be carried forward.
- Banks and visa offices usually ask for the returns of the last two or three years, filed on time.
From documents to a filed return: our process
- First conversation. We note your sources of income and tell you exactly which documents are needed — no generic list.
- Reconciliation. Salary, interest, TDS and reported transactions in the AIS are tied to your records; any wrong entry is flagged for feedback on the portal.
- Regime and form. Old and new regimes are computed side by side, the correct ITR form is chosen and the draft is shared with you.
- File, verify, follow up. After your approval we file and e-verify, then track processing, the intimation and the refund.
Papers and details to keep ready

Questions about income tax filing in Indore
Remuneration to working partners is deductible only if authorised by the partnership deed and within limits linked to the firm’s book profit. Amounts above the limit are disallowed in the firm’s hands. Interest on partners’ capital is likewise capped at the prescribed rate.
Not if you opt for the presumptive scheme and declare income at or above the prescribed percentage of turnover. If you declare a lower profit and your income exceeds the exemption limit, books and a tax audit become necessary.
In four instalments: 15% of the year’s tax by 15 June, 45% by 15 September, 75% by 15 December and the whole by 15 March. A shortfall carries interest at 1% a month, worked out separately for each instalment.
Three things. The value at vesting is already taxed as salary in Form 16. The holdings must be disclosed in the foreign-assets schedule of the return each year. And dividends or gains on sale are taxable in India, with credit for any tax withheld abroad claimed through Form 67.
The new regime has lower rates and makes income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free after rebate, but drops most deductions. The old regime helps when HRA, home-loan interest and investments are large. We compute both every year and show you the difference.
Filing is mandatory above the basic exemption limit and in certain cases regardless of income — large bank deposits, foreign travel spend or high electricity bills, for example. Even when optional, a return is often worth filing to claim a TDS refund or to build income proof for loans.
