GST Filing in Chandigarh
Online GST Return Filing assistance for businesses and individuals in Chandigarh.
Chandigarh is a Union Territory and the shared capital of Punjab and Haryana; together with Mohali in Punjab and Panchkula in Haryana it forms the Tricity, a region of government offices, professional services, IT parks and education. For a business here, GST compliance is a monthly operating process — invoices, e-invoices, GSTR-1, GSTR-2B reconciliation, GSTR-3B — and the cost of getting it wrong is blocked credit rather than just a late fee.
Tax VKV Group offers GST return filing online to businesses in Chandigarh: you send the month’s sales and purchase data, we reconcile and file, and you receive the acknowledgement along with a one-page summary of tax paid and credit claimed.
Serving businesses in Chandigarh online. Our team works from Noida, Uttar Pradesh — we do not run a branch in Chandigarh. Documents are shared over WhatsApp or email and every filing is made on the official government portal.
What GST return filing covers for a business in Chandigarh
For a business in Chandigarh, GST is a chain of linked filings. E-invoices (compulsory above ₹5 crore turnover) flow into GSTR-1, due on the 11th; suppliers’ filings build your GSTR-2B and the Invoice Management System, where each inward invoice is accepted, rejected or kept pending; GSTR-3B, due on the 20th, then settles tax using only the credit that survives. GSTR-9, and GSTR-9C for larger taxpayers, reconcile the year.
For businesses in Chandigarh: the registration threshold is ₹40 lakh of turnover for goods and ₹20 lakh for services, quarterly filers under QRMP file GSTR-3B by the 24th of the month following the quarter, and anyone supplying to another state — or selling goods through an online marketplace — generally needs registration from the first sale.
This page covers Chandigarh; the service itself is described in full on our GST Return Filing service page.
Business in Chandigarh and what it means for GST
The Tricity looks like one city but is three GST jurisdictions: Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana. A showroom in Sector 17 delivering to a customer in Mohali, a consultant in Panchkula billing a client in Chandigarh, a distributor supplying shops across all three — each is making inter-state supplies, with IGST, and a composition dealer cannot make them at all. A business with outlets in two of the three needs separate registrations. This is the most common source of error for local businesses.
Showrooms and retailers
Place of supply for goods delivered across the Tricity’s boundaries.
Consultants, coaching and IT firms
IGST on clients registered in Mohali or Panchkula.
Distributors serving the Tricity
E-way bills for movement between the three jurisdictions.
GST points for the main business types here
Shops & Retailers. A retailer’s return is built from two piles of paper: purchase bills from distributors, which must carry the shop’s GSTIN to give any credit, and daily sales, most of which are small consumer bills reported as a rate-wise total. Payments received by UPI and card are now visible to the department through bank reporting, so sales declared in the return should not fall short of what the bank shows.
IT & Service Companies. Service firms rarely have stock, so their GST risk sits in timing and classification. Tax is due on the invoice date or receipt of an advance, whichever is earlier — retainers and milestone advances included. Credit notes for cancelled work must be issued within the statutory window. And where several services are bundled, or staff are seconded between group companies, the rate and even the taxability depend on how the contract is written.
Wholesalers & Distributors. Wholesalers move goods as well as invoices, which brings in the e-way bill: consignments above the notified value need one before the vehicle leaves, even for a delivery within the state. On the purchase side, credit taken on a supplier’s invoice has to be reversed if the supplier is not paid within 180 days, and trade discounts given after the sale count for tax only through properly linked credit notes.
Why on-time GST filing matters here
- A shop whose UPI and card receipts exceed the sales in its returns is an easy mismatch for the system to flag.
- Advances from clients are taxable when received; reporting them only when the invoice is raised leaves interest to pay.
- A vehicle stopped without a valid e-way bill faces detention and a penalty of up to twice the tax on the goods.
- Returns older than three years from their due date can no longer be filed at all, so an old backlog cannot be left to “sort out later”.
- Continuous non-filing leads to blocked e-way bills and eventually suspension or cancellation of the GSTIN.
From your bills to a filed return: our process
- Scope and access. We agree the returns to be filed and set up view access or a data-sharing routine with your accounts team.
- Books-to-portal reconciliation. Sales as per books are tied to e-invoices and GSTR-1; purchases are matched to GSTR-2B and actioned in the Invoice Management System.
- Computation sign-off. A working with output tax, eligible credit, reversals and RCM liability is shared for sign-off.
- Filing and follow-through. Returns are filed ahead of the deadline; vendor mismatches and any system notices are tracked until closed.

“GST consultant near me”: what to look for in Chandigarh
Nearness matters less for GST return filing in Chandigarh than it seems: the portal, the payment challan and the acknowledgement are all online, and nothing in the process requires meeting the practitioner after the first conversation.
Returns for businesses in Chandigarh are prepared at our Patna office. You can reach us by phone or WhatsApp during business hours, and every filing is shared back with you. We do not have an office in Chandigarh, so if you specifically want someone to collect papers in person, a local practitioner may suit you better — for everything else, distance makes no difference.
GST return filing in Chandigarh: common questions
Yes. Chandigarh and Punjab are different jurisdictions for GST, so each place of business needs its own registration, and stock moved between the godown and the shop is a taxable inter-state transfer between two registrations of the same person.
No. A composition dealer issues a bill of supply, not a tax invoice, cannot collect tax from the customer, and must print “composition taxable person, not eligible to collect tax on supplies” on the bill. Tax is paid out of the dealer’s own margin at the flat rate.
Yes. Income-tax TDS is a part-payment of your income tax and does not reduce the value on which GST is charged. GST is computed on the full invoice value before any TDS, and the two taxes are accounted for separately.
If the consignment value exceeds the limit notified for movement within the state, yes — distance does not exempt it, though very short movements have a relaxation for vehicle details. For any movement to another state the limit is ₹50,000.
A late fee is charged for each day of delay on GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B (a reduced amount for nil returns), subject to caps linked to turnover. Interest at 18% a year is charged separately on any tax paid late.
Usually yes, in sequence and with late fee and interest — we compute the total before starting. But returns more than three years past their due date are now blocked on the portal, so a backlog should be cleared without waiting.
