GST Filing in Delhi
Online GST Return Filing assistance for businesses and individuals in Delhi.
Delhi is both the national capital and northern India’s largest trading centre, with wholesale markets such as Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazar, Khari Baoli, Gandhi Nagar and Nehru Place, industrial areas at Okhla, Narela and Bawana, and a vast services economy. With that density of registered businesses, GST work here is less about “how do I file” and more about getting input credit, e-invoicing and vendor mismatches right every single month.
Tax VKV Group offers GST return filing online to businesses in Delhi: you send the month’s sales and purchase data, we reconcile and file, and you receive the acknowledgement along with a one-page summary of tax paid and credit claimed.
Serving businesses in Delhi online. Our team works from Noida, Uttar Pradesh — we do not run a branch in Delhi. Documents are shared over WhatsApp or email and every filing is made on the official government portal.
GST return filing in Delhi: what the work involves
For most businesses in Delhi the cycle is monthly: GSTR-1 by the 11th, GSTR-2B generated mid-month, GSTR-3B with payment by the 20th. E-invoicing applies once aggregate turnover crosses ₹5 crore, and the annual return GSTR-9 (with the GSTR-9C reconciliation for larger taxpayers) closes the year. Smaller firms can still opt for QRMP and file quarterly.
In Delhi, registration becomes compulsory once turnover crosses ₹40 lakh for goods (₹20 lakh for services), and quarterly QRMP filers have until the 24th of the month after the quarter for GSTR-3B. Inter-state sellers and most online sellers must register regardless of turnover.
This page covers Delhi; the service itself is described in full on our GST Return Filing service page.
Business in Delhi and what it means for GST
Delhi is a single-city tax jurisdiction — state code 07 — surrounded by Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, so most of what its traders sell crosses a state border within a few kilometres. The wholesale markets of the old city supply retailers across north India; garment makers in Gandhi Nagar, electronics dealers in Nehru Place and Lajpat Rai Market and spice merchants in Khari Baoli bill IGST as routinely as local tax. A large number of online sellers also operate from Delhi godowns. Place of supply, e-way bills and marketplace reconciliation are the daily issues.
Wholesalers in the old-city markets
Buyers from many states, IGST on most invoices and e-way bills for every outbound consignment.
Online sellers with Delhi warehouses
State-wise sales from marketplace reports, TCS credit and returns netted off.
Consultancies and agencies
Clients in Gurugram and Noida are in other states — IGST, not CGST and SGST.
GST by type of business
Wholesalers & Distributors. Wholesalers move goods as well as invoices, which brings in the e-way bill: consignments above the notified value need one before the vehicle leaves, even for a delivery within the state. On the purchase side, credit taken on a supplier’s invoice has to be reversed if the supplier is not paid within 180 days, and trade discounts given after the sale count for tax only through properly linked credit notes.
Online Sellers. Selling through Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho or your own website changes GST in two ways: registration is generally needed from the first sale, and the marketplace collects TCS and reports your sales in its own return. Your GSTR-1 has to agree with what the marketplace reports, state by state, after returns and cancellations are netted off.
IT & Service Companies. Service firms rarely have stock, so their GST risk sits in timing and classification. Tax is due on the invoice date or receipt of an advance, whichever is earlier — retainers and milestone advances included. Credit notes for cancelled work must be issued within the statutory window. And where several services are bundled, or staff are seconded between group companies, the rate and even the taxability depend on how the contract is written.
What late or wrong returns cost
- A vehicle stopped without a valid e-way bill faces detention and a penalty of up to twice the tax on the goods.
- Marketplace reports are visible to the department, so any gap between them and your GSTR-1 is flagged automatically.
- Advances from clients are taxable when received; reporting them only when the invoice is raised leaves interest to pay.
- Late fees run per day of delay on every pending return, and interest at 18% a year applies on tax paid late.
- Your buyers get input credit only when your GSTR-1 is filed — late filing is one of the quickest ways to lose a B2B customer.
How the filing works, step by step
- Data in. You send the period’s sales and purchase bills — photographed bill books, an Excel sheet or a Tally, Busy or Vyapar export all work.
- Reconciliation. We match your purchases with GSTR-2B, list the suppliers who have not uploaded their invoices and work out the correct credit and tax payable.
- Your approval. You receive a short summary — sales, credit, tax to pay — and confirm it before anything is filed.
- Filing and record. Returns are filed before the due date and the acknowledgements are sent to you, with the next deadline already on our reminder list.

GST filing in Delhi — frequently asked questions
IGST. Gurugram is in Haryana, a different state, so a supply from a Delhi-registered business to a customer registered there is inter-state. The same applies to Noida and Ghaziabad, which are in Uttar Pradesh. CGST and Delhi SGST apply only when the place of supply is within Delhi.
If the consignment value exceeds the limit notified for movement within the state, yes — distance does not exempt it, though very short movements have a relaxation for vehicle details. For any movement to another state the limit is ₹50,000.
For goods sold through an e-commerce operator, registration is generally required irrespective of turnover. A limited relaxation allows small sellers supplying only within their own state to enrol without full registration, with conditions. Tell us where you sell and to whom, and we will confirm which applies.
Yes. Income-tax TDS is a part-payment of your income tax and does not reduce the value on which GST is charged. GST is computed on the full invoice value before any TDS, and the two taxes are accounted for separately.
For monthly filers GSTR-1 is due on the 11th and GSTR-3B on the 20th of the following month. Under QRMP, the quarterly GSTR-1 is due on the 13th and GSTR-3B on the 22nd or 24th after the quarter, depending on the state. Composition dealers pay through CMP-08 by the 18th after each quarter.
Yes. Every registered taxpayer must file a nil return for a period with no transactions. Late fees apply to nil returns as well, though at a lower per-day rate, and they keep adding up until the return is filed.
