GST Filing in Chennai
Online GST Return Filing assistance for businesses and individuals in Chennai.
Chennai is a port city and the centre of India’s automobile industry, with assembly plants and component makers at Sriperumbudur, Oragadam and Ambattur, an IT corridor along Old Mahabalipuram Road, and retail districts such as T. Nagar and George Town. For a business here, GST compliance is a monthly operating process — invoices, e-invoices, GSTR-1, GSTR-2B reconciliation, GSTR-3B — and the cost of getting it wrong is blocked credit rather than just a late fee.

GST return filing in Chennai: what the work involves
For a business in Chennai, GST is a chain of linked filings. E-invoices (compulsory above ₹5 crore turnover) flow into GSTR-1, due on the 11th; suppliers’ filings build your GSTR-2B and the Invoice Management System, where each inward invoice is accepted, rejected or kept pending; GSTR-3B, due on the 20th, then settles tax using only the credit that survives. GSTR-9, and GSTR-9C for larger taxpayers, reconcile the year.
For businesses in Tamil Nadu: the registration threshold is ₹40 lakh of turnover for goods and ₹20 lakh for services, quarterly filers under QRMP file GSTR-3B by the 22nd of the month following the quarter, and anyone supplying to another state — or selling goods through an online marketplace — generally needs registration from the first sale.
What the service includes, wherever you are in India, is set out on our GST Return Filing service page.

GST points for the main business types here
Manufacturers & MSME Units. Manufacturing units deal with credit on raw material, capital goods and job work, plus e-way bills on almost every dispatch. Goods sent for job work must come back within the permitted time or tax becomes payable, and credit on capital goods has rules of its own. Above ₹5 crore turnover, every B2B invoice also has to be generated as an e-invoice.
Exporters. An exporter’s refund is decided by matching, not by argument. For goods, the shipping bill, the export manifest and the invoice details in GSTR-1 must agree to the rupee; for services, the foreign remittance must be received within the period the exchange rules allow, or the tax becomes payable with interest. Supplies to SEZ units count as exports only with the unit’s endorsement, and merchant exporters buying at the concessional rate must ship within ninety days.
Wholesalers & Distributors. A distributor’s input credit has a shelf life. Credit on a purchase invoice must be claimed by 30 November after the financial year it belongs to, or it lapses — even if the supplier uploads the invoice later. Outward supplies are reported by HSN code, and once turnover crosses ₹5 crore every B2B invoice has to be an e-invoice. Old unmatched purchase invoices are therefore worth clearing well before the cut-off, not in the last week.
What late or wrong returns cost
- For a manufacturer, wrongly taken or missed credit on raw material and machinery directly changes product cost.
- Export proceeds not realised within the permitted period turn a zero-rated sale into a taxable one, with interest.
- Input credit not claimed by 30 November after the financial year is lost for good.
- Continuous non-filing leads to blocked e-way bills and eventually suspension or cancellation of the GSTIN.
- Returns older than three years from their due date can no longer be filed at all, so an old backlog cannot be left to “sort out later”.
From your bills to a filed return: our process
- Data in. You send the period’s sales and purchase bills — photographed bill books, an Excel sheet or a Tally, Busy or Vyapar export all work.
- Reconciliation. We match your purchases with GSTR-2B, list the suppliers who have not uploaded their invoices and work out the correct credit and tax payable.
- Your approval. You receive a short summary — sales, credit, tax to pay — and confirm it before anything is filed.
- Filing and record. Returns are filed before the due date and the acknowledgements are sent to you, with the next deadline already on our reminder list.

Searching for GST return filing near me from Chennai?
A “GST filing near me” search in Chennai will usually show directory listings. Before choosing anyone, near or far, ask three things: will they reconcile GSTR-2B before claiming credit, will you see the numbers before filing, and will you get the acknowledgement every time?
Tax VKV Group serves Chennai online from its Patna office — there is no branch here. What you get instead is a fixed process: a data cut-off date, a summary for your approval, filing before the due date and a reminder before the next one.
GST return filing in Chennai: common questions
Through a supplementary invoice or debit note for an increase, or a credit note for a decrease, linked to the original invoices and reported in the month it is issued. Interest may apply on tax for upward revisions depending on the terms; credit notes must be issued within the statutory time limit.
Generally yes — credit on capital goods used for taxable supplies is available in full in the month of receipt, provided the invoice is in GSTR-2B and you have not also claimed depreciation on the tax portion. Credit is restricted if the machine is used partly for exempt output.
Under LUT no tax is paid and you claim a refund of accumulated input credit, which suits exporters with moderate credit. Paying IGST gives a quicker automatic refund through customs for goods, but blocks working capital meanwhile and is restricted for some exporters. The choice depends on your credit position and cash flow.
Credit on an invoice must be claimed by 30 November following the end of the financial year to which it belongs, or by the date the annual return is filed, whichever is earlier. After that it lapses, even if the supplier reports the invoice later.
We quote a fixed monthly or quarterly fee in writing after looking at your volume of invoices and the returns involved. There is no charge for the first conversation and no fee added afterwards.
QRMP lets taxpayers with turnover up to ₹5 crore file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B quarterly while paying tax monthly by challan. It cuts filings from 24 to 8 a year; buyers can still get monthly credit if you upload invoices through the IFF.
