GST return filing in Bengaluru means keeping pace with a fast calendar and a large vendor base. Bengaluru is India’s technology capital, with software and research campuses at Electronic City, Whitefield and along the Outer Ring Road, the country’s most active start-up scene, and an older base of aerospace, machine-tool and garment manufacturing around Peenya.

For businesses in Bengaluru our team works remotely — data in by the first week, reconciliation mid-month, filing ahead of the deadline, acknowledgement on your phone.

Serving businesses in Bengaluru online. Our team works from Noida, Uttar Pradesh — we do not run a branch in Bengaluru. Documents are shared over WhatsApp or email and every filing is made on the official government portal.

What GST return filing covers for a business in Bengaluru

For a business in Bengaluru, GST is a chain of linked filings. E-invoices (compulsory above ₹5 crore turnover) flow into GSTR-1, due on the 11th; suppliers’ filings build your GSTR-2B and the Invoice Management System, where each inward invoice is accepted, rejected or kept pending; GSTR-3B, due on the 20th, then settles tax using only the credit that survives. GSTR-9, and GSTR-9C for larger taxpayers, reconcile the year.

For businesses in Karnataka: the registration threshold is ₹40 lakh of turnover for goods and ₹20 lakh for services, quarterly filers under QRMP file GSTR-3B by the 22nd of the month following the quarter, and anyone supplying to another state — or selling goods through an online marketplace — generally needs registration from the first sale.

Who files GST returns in Bengaluru

Most of Bengaluru’s GST work is export of services. Global capability centres and IT companies bill overseas group entities; SaaS firms sell subscriptions to customers worldwide; and thousands of freelancers and small studios work for foreign clients through platforms. Each has to prove export — a recipient outside India and payment in foreign exchange — and claim refunds of credit on rent, cloud and staff costs. The city is also the base of large e-commerce and quick-commerce operations and their sellers.

SaaS and software exporters

LUT, export invoices and refund claims supported by remittance records.

Captive centres billing group companies

Whether the centre is an exporter or an intermediary — a question that decides taxability.

Marketplace sellers and D2C brands

TCS credit and state-wise sales reconciled with platform reports.

What matters for each kind of business

IT & Service Companies. Service firms rarely have stock, so their GST risk sits in timing and classification. Tax is due on the invoice date or receipt of an advance, whichever is earlier — retainers and milestone advances included. Credit notes for cancelled work must be issued within the statutory window. And where several services are bundled, or staff are seconded between group companies, the rate and even the taxability depend on how the contract is written.

Exporters. Exporters either ship under a Letter of Undertaking without paying tax and claim a refund of accumulated input credit, or pay IGST and claim that back. Either way the refund depends on shipping bills, invoices and returns matching exactly. The LUT has to be renewed every financial year before the first export invoice.

Online Sellers. Selling through Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho or your own website changes GST in two ways: registration is generally needed from the first sale, and the marketplace collects TCS and reports your sales in its own return. Your GSTR-1 has to agree with what the marketplace reports, state by state, after returns and cancellations are netted off.

Why on-time GST filing matters here

  • Advances from clients are taxable when received; reporting them only when the invoice is raised leaves interest to pay.
  • For exporters, a mismatch between the shipping bill and GSTR-1 holds up the refund and locks working capital.
  • Marketplace reports are visible to the department, so any gap between them and your GSTR-1 is flagged automatically.
  • Returns older than three years from their due date can no longer be filed at all, so an old backlog cannot be left to “sort out later”.
  • Continuous non-filing leads to blocked e-way bills and eventually suspension or cancellation of the GSTIN.

How the filing works, step by step

  1. Onboarding. We review your registration, past returns and any pending notices so there are no surprises in the first filing.
  2. Monthly data cut-off. By an agreed date each month you share sales, purchases, debit/credit notes and advances — from your billing software or as scanned bills.
  3. Credit check. Purchases are matched invoice by invoice with GSTR-2B; mismatches go back to you as a supplier follow-up list.
  4. Review, file, report. You approve the computation, we file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, and you get the acknowledgements with a month-wise tracker.

Documents and details we need

For most businesses the starting list looks like this:

Mistakes that lead to notices and lost credit

Most notices and lost credit trace back to a short list of errors:

“GST consultant near me”: what to look for in Bengaluru

When you search for “GST consultant near me” from Bengaluru, what you actually need is someone who files correctly and on time — and GST filing has been a fully online process since day one. Returns are filed on the GST portal with an OTP or digital signature; no tax office visit is involved.

We are not located in Bengaluru, and we do not pretend to be. Our team works from Patna and serves Bengaluru remotely: documents by WhatsApp or email, questions by phone, filings on the portal. If your case genuinely needs someone physically present — a departmental visit to your premises, for example — we will tell you so plainly.

Questions about GST filing in Bengaluru

Services to a client outside India, paid for in convertible foreign exchange, are exports and zero-rated. If your total receipts exceed ₹20 lakh you must register, file returns and furnish an LUT, but you charge no GST on export invoices and can claim refund of input credit.

Yes. Income-tax TDS is a part-payment of your income tax and does not reduce the value on which GST is charged. GST is computed on the full invoice value before any TDS, and the two taxes are accounted for separately.

When IGST is paid on exports, the refund is processed automatically once the shipping bill and GSTR-1 match. Refund of accumulated credit under LUT needs a separate application; a clean claim is normally sanctioned within the statutory 60 days, with 90% released provisionally in eligible cases.

For goods sold through an e-commerce operator, registration is generally required irrespective of turnover. A limited relaxation allows small sellers supplying only within their own state to enrol without full registration, with conditions. Tell us where you sell and to whom, and we will confirm which applies.

A late fee is charged for each day of delay on GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B (a reduced amount for nil returns), subject to caps linked to turnover. Interest at 18% a year is charged separately on any tax paid late.

Usually yes, in sequence and with late fee and interest — we compute the total before starting. But returns more than three years past their due date are now blocked on the portal, so a backlog should be cleared without waiting.
