Siwan is a district of north-western Bihar bordering Uttar Pradesh, on the Gorakhpur–Chhapra railway; it is the birthplace of Dr Rajendra Prasad and is known for the very large number of its residents who work in the Gulf countries. Our GST return service for businesses in Siwan covers monthly and quarterly filing, input-credit reconciliation before each return and a reminder ahead of every due date.

Serving businesses in Siwan online: sales and purchase data reaches us over WhatsApp, email or a software export; reconciled returns and acknowledgements go back to you before the due date.

Serving businesses in Siwan online. Our team works from Noida, Uttar Pradesh — we do not run a branch in Siwan. Documents are shared over WhatsApp or email and every filing is made on the official government portal.

GST return filing in Siwan: what the work involves

What a business in Siwan must file follows from its registration type. A regular taxpayer reports invoices in GSTR-1 and pays through GSTR-3B, every month or — within ₹5 crore of turnover — every quarter under QRMP. A composition dealer files CMP-08 quarterly and GSTR-4 annually. The portal then matches what suppliers report against what buyers claim, so credit is allowed only for invoices that appear in GSTR-2B.

For businesses in Bihar: the registration threshold is ₹40 lakh of turnover for goods and ₹20 lakh for services, quarterly filers under QRMP file GSTR-3B by the 24th of the month following the quarter, and anyone supplying to another state — or selling goods through an online marketplace — generally needs registration from the first sale.

Who files GST returns in Siwan

Remittances drive Siwan’s market. Money sent home from the Gulf goes into houses, gold, vehicles and consumer goods, so the town has more jewellers, building-material dealers, electronics and two-wheeler showrooms than its size would suggest, and a steady construction trade. That brings GST on works contracts for house building, on commercial rent, and on high-value retail. Proximity to Deoria and Ballia in Uttar Pradesh also means some inter-state selling.

Jewellers and showrooms

Stock-heavy businesses where returns must agree with stock registers and making-charge billing.

Building-material dealers and house contractors

Works contracts for individual houses taxed at the normal rate, with credit on materials.

Owners of commercial buildings

Rent taxable once past the threshold.

What matters for each kind of business

Shops & Retailers. For shops selling mostly to consumers, the first decision is regular versus composition. Composition keeps things to a flat percentage of turnover and a quarterly CMP-08, but you cannot pass on credit or sell outside the state. Regular registration under QRMP is still only eight returns a year and lets you claim credit on your purchases.

Builders & Property Owners. Renting commercial property is a taxable service at 18% once the owner’s receipts cross the registration threshold, and an unregistered owner letting to a registered tenant triggers reverse charge in the tenant’s hands. Builders follow project-wise rates with restrictions on credit and an 80% purchase condition from registered suppliers that has to be tested every year.

Wholesalers & Distributors. Wholesalers move goods as well as invoices, which brings in the e-way bill: consignments above the notified value need one before the vehicle leaves, even for a delivery within the state. On the purchase side, credit taken on a supplier’s invoice has to be reversed if the supplier is not paid within 180 days, and trade discounts given after the sale count for tax only through properly linked credit notes.

Where GST filing goes wrong — and why it matters

  • Retailers on composition who cross the turnover limit mid-year must switch to regular filing immediately — missing that switch is an expensive mistake.
  • Landlords often discover the GST liability on commercial rent only when the tenant’s auditor asks for an invoice.
  • A vehicle stopped without a valid e-way bill faces detention and a penalty of up to twice the tax on the goods.
  • Returns older than three years from their due date can no longer be filed at all, so an old backlog cannot be left to “sort out later”.
  • Continuous non-filing leads to blocked e-way bills and eventually suspension or cancellation of the GSTIN.

How the filing works, step by step

  1. Data in. You send the period’s sales and purchase bills — photographed bill books, an Excel sheet or a Tally, Busy or Vyapar export all work.
  2. Reconciliation. We match your purchases with GSTR-2B, list the suppliers who have not uploaded their invoices and work out the correct credit and tax payable.
  3. Your approval. You receive a short summary — sales, credit, tax to pay — and confirm it before anything is filed.
  4. Filing and record. Returns are filed before the due date and the acknowledgements are sent to you, with the next deadline already on our reminder list.

“GST consultant near me”: what to look for in Siwan

A “GST filing near me” search in Siwan will usually show directory listings. Before choosing anyone, near or far, ask three things: will they reconcile GSTR-2B before claiming credit, will you see the numbers before filing, and will you get the acknowledgement every time?

Tax VKV Group serves Siwan online from its Patna office — there is no branch here. What you get instead is a fixed process: a data cut-off date, a summary for your approval, filing before the due date and a reminder before the next one.

Questions about GST filing in Siwan

Yes. A contractor who builds a house with materials supplies a works-contract service and charges GST on the full value. Pure labour contracts for a single residential house outside a housing complex are exempt. As the owner you cannot claim that GST back.

Only once your turnover crosses the registration threshold for your state, or if you sell to other states or through online marketplaces. Below the threshold it is optional. Share your approximate annual sales and what you sell, and we will tell you clearly whether you must register.

Rent on commercial property is taxable at 18% if the landlord is registered or required to be. Where an unregistered landlord lets commercial property to a registered business, the tenant pays the tax under reverse charge. Residential letting for use as a residence is exempt.

If the consignment value exceeds the limit notified for movement within the state, yes — distance does not exempt it, though very short movements have a relaxation for vehicle details. For any movement to another state the limit is ₹50,000.

A late fee is charged for each day of delay on GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B (a reduced amount for nil returns), subject to caps linked to turnover. Interest at 18% a year is charged separately on any tax paid late.

Usually yes, in sequence and with late fee and interest — we compute the total before starting. But returns more than three years past their due date are now blocked on the portal, so a backlog should be cleared without waiting.
