Hyderabad combines a major technology district at HITEC City and Gachibowli with one of the world’s largest concentrations of pharmaceutical manufacturing, old-city trades in pearls and bangles, and the wholesale market of Begum Bazaar. Returns filed from here range from a single Form 16 to audited business accounts, and the Annual Information Statement now shows the department almost everything before you declare it.

For taxpayers in Hyderabad our team works remotely — document check, AIS reconciliation, regime comparison, filing and e-verification, with one person answering your questions throughout.

Serving businesses in Hyderabad online. Our team works from Noida, Uttar Pradesh — we do not run a branch in Hyderabad. Documents are shared over WhatsApp or email and every filing is made on the official government portal.

What filing an income tax return involves in Hyderabad

For taxpayers in Hyderabad the return is usually a multi-schedule document: salary from one or more employers, house property with a loan, capital gains split by asset and holding period, other income, and — for residents with overseas shares or accounts — the foreign-assets schedule. Businesses and professionals add a balance sheet or presumptive figures. The new regime is the default; staying in the old one needs a deliberate choice each year.

Returns for a financial year are due by 31 July for salaried and other non-business taxpayers, 31 August for business and professional returns without audit, and 31 October where a tax audit applies. From 1 April 2026 the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies and the year is called the “tax year”. Telangana levies professional tax on salaries; the amount your employer deducts is allowed as a deduction under the old regime. For house rent allowance under the old regime, Hyderabad is one of the eight cities where up to 50% of basic salary can be exempt.

Who files income tax returns in Hyderabad

Technology and pharma employees make up most of Hyderabad’s salaried filers, many with stock awards and many who have bought flats or plots in the fast-growing western suburbs. Property gains are common, as land values have risen sharply. Doctors — the city is a major hospital centre — and consultants form the professional group. Telangana levies professional tax, and from 2026-27 Hyderabad is among the cities with a 50% HRA limit.

IT and pharma employees

Form 16, stock awards and home-loan claims.

Sellers of plots and flats

Long-term gains with the pre-July-2024 indexation option where available.

Doctors and consultants

Professional receipts and TDS from hospitals.

Income tax by type of taxpayer

Salaried Professionals. Company payrolls compute tax on what the employee declares at the start of the year, and the return is where that estimate is corrected. Proofs not submitted in time, a bonus or joining payment later recovered, notice-pay deductions, leave travel claims and the employer’s contribution to NPS — deductible up to 14% of salary under the new regime — all change the final figure. Income outside salary, such as interest or freelance fees, is never in Form 16.

Investors & Property Sellers. Gains on listed shares and equity funds held over a year are taxed at 12.5% above ₹1.25 lakh; short-term gains at 20%. Property sold after two years is long-term: 12.5% without indexation, with an option of 20% with indexation for property bought before 23 July 2024. Reinvestment exemptions can remove the tax, but only with the right timing.

Doctors, Advocates & Consultants. A professional’s first decision each year is presumptive or actual. Declaring half of gross receipts is simple and needs no books, but someone with high rent, staff and equipment costs may show a lower real profit — in which case books and an audit are required. Clinics and firms also become deductors: salaries, rent above the limit and payments to other professionals carry TDS, with quarterly statements to file.

Why the details in a return matter

  • Tax short-deducted by the employer is still the employee’s liability, payable with interest before the return is filed.
  • The rebate that makes income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free does not apply to capital gains taxed at special rates.
  • A professional who declares less than half of receipts without audited books makes the return invalid for the scheme.
  • Banks and visa offices usually ask for the returns of the last two or three years, filed on time.
  • A return filed after the due date carries a late fee and interest, and some losses can no longer be carried forward.

From documents to a filed return: our process

  1. Documents in. You send Form 16 or income details, bank statements and investment proofs — photos over WhatsApp are fine.
  2. Cross-check. We download your AIS and tax statement and match every entry with your papers, so nothing is missed or counted twice.
  3. Computation for approval. You see the tax under both regimes, the refund or tax payable, and confirm before filing.
  4. Filing and e-verification. The return is filed, e-verified with Aadhaar OTP and the acknowledgement sent to you; we watch the refund status afterwards.

“Income tax consultant near me”: what to check in Hyderabad

If you are looking for an income tax consultant near Hyderabad, check how they work before how near they are: do they download your AIS, do they compare both regimes, and do they give you the computation along with the acknowledgement?

Tax VKV Group serves Hyderabad online from Patna — there is no branch here. Every return we file comes with the computation sheet, the acknowledgement and a note of anything to keep in mind for next year.

Income tax filing in Hyderabad — frequently asked questions

As a resident individual who acquired the land before 23 July 2024, you can compute tax both ways — 12.5% on the gain without indexation, or 20% on the gain after indexing the cost — and pay the lower amount. Reinvesting in a residential house can exempt the gain.

Yes. Deductions you are entitled to under the regime you choose can be claimed in the return even if the employer did not allow them, provided you hold the proof. The excess TDS then comes back as a refund. HRA claimed directly in the return needs rent receipts and, above the limit, the landlord’s PAN.

If held for more than two years, the gain is long-term and taxed at 12.5% — or, for property bought before 23 July 2024, the lower of that and 20% with indexation. Buying another house or specified bonds within the time limits can exempt the gain. Send us both deeds and we will compute it.

Not if your receipts are within the presumptive limit and you declare at least 50% of them as income. If you claim a lower profit, or your receipts exceed the limit, books are compulsory and a tax audit applies.

An intimation after processing is routine — it either confirms your figures or shows an adjustment. A defective-return notice or a query on mismatch needs a reply within the time given. Send us the notice and we will explain it and respond.

The fee is fixed and quoted in writing before we start, based on the type of income — a salary-only return costs less than one with capital gains or business income. The first consultation is free.
