Income Tax Filing in Kanpur
Online Income Tax Return (ITR) Filing assistance for businesses and individuals in Kanpur.
Income tax return filing in Kanpur is mostly reconciliation: salary, interest, dividends, securities trades, rent and foreign income all appear in the Annual Information Statement, and the return has to explain each of them. Kanpur, on the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh, is an industrial city with a long history in leather and textiles — the tanneries of Jajmau and saddlery and footwear exporters — along with plastics, detergents, food products and ordnance factories.
Tax VKV Group offers income tax return filing online to taxpayers in Kanpur: you share your documents, we choose the correct form, compare both tax regimes, show you the computation and file only after you approve it.
Serving businesses in Kanpur online. Our team works from Noida, Uttar Pradesh — we do not run a branch in Kanpur. Documents are shared over WhatsApp or email and every filing is made on the official government portal.
What filing an income tax return involves in Kanpur
Returns from Kanpur are increasingly pre-filled, and that is the risk: salary, interest, dividends, securities trades and even foreign remittances arrive in the Annual Information Statement, and a return that simply accepts the pre-fill inherits its errors. Proper filing means checking each entry, adding what the statement misses — rent, foreign assets, off-market sales — then choosing the form and the regime with the numbers in front of you.
Returns for a financial year are due by 31 July for salaried and other non-business taxpayers, 31 August for business and professional returns without audit, and 31 October where a tax audit applies. From 1 April 2026 the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies and the year is called the “tax year”. Uttar Pradesh does not levy professional tax on salaries, so there is no such deduction to look for in your Form 16. For house rent allowance under the old regime, Kanpur falls in the 40%-of-salary category; the 50% limit applies only to eight notified metro cities.
What the service includes, wherever you are in India, is set out on our Income Tax Filing service page.

Income tax by type of taxpayer
Firms & Companies. A firm or company also collects tax for others. It deducts TDS on salaries, contractors, rent and professional fees — and, for larger buyers, on purchases of goods — deposits it by the 7th of the following month and files a statement every quarter. Its own advance tax is due in four instalments, in June, September, December and March. An expense on which TDS was skipped is partly disallowed, and a late TDS statement costs ₹200 for every day of delay.
Shop Owners & Traders. A trader’s return is read alongside two other records — the GST returns and the bank account — and all three should describe the same business. ITR-4 also asks for closing stock, debtors, creditors and cash in hand, which should be realistic. Two cash rules matter at the counter: no receipt of ₹2 lakh or more in cash from one person for one transaction, and, where books are kept, no deduction for a cash payment above ₹10,000 in a day.
Government & Bank Staff. Government and bank staff are placed in the new regime by default, and the employer deducts tax on that basis unless the employee opts out in writing. Whether the old regime still pays depends on a few items — home-loan interest, GPF and insurance, and HRA for those living in rented quarters — set against the lower rates of the new one. Interest on savings accounts and fixed deposits, which Form 16 leaves out, is taxable under both.
Why the details in a return matter
- Thirty per cent of an expense is disallowed if tax was not deducted on it — far more than the TDS itself.
- Accepting ₹2 lakh or more in cash for a single sale draws a penalty equal to the amount received.
- Bank interest left out of the return is the most common reason salaried taxpayers receive a mismatch intimation.
- Banks and visa offices usually ask for the returns of the last two or three years, filed on time.
- A return filed after the due date carries a late fee and interest, and some losses can no longer be carried forward.
How the filing works, step by step
- Scoping. We list every income head for the year — salary, business, capital gains, rent, foreign assets — and the schedules each one needs.
- Statements and workings. Capital-gains statements, broker reports, rent and loan certificates are converted into return schedules and matched with the AIS.
- Review. You receive a computation with the regime comparison, advance-tax position and any disclosure points to confirm.
- Filing and after-care. The return is filed and e-verified; intimations, defective-return notices or refund adjustments are handled until closed.

Questions about income tax filing in Kanpur
Yes. Duty drawback, RoDTEP credits and similar export incentives are business income, taxed in the year they accrue or are received according to your accounting method. They should be shown separately in the accounts so that turnover and incentives reconcile with customs records.
In four instalments: 15% of the year’s tax by 15 June, 45% by 15 September, 75% by 15 December and the whole by 15 March. A shortfall carries interest at 1% a month, worked out separately for each instalment.
No. Receiving ₹2 lakh or more in cash from one person in a day, for one transaction, or for one event is prohibited, and the penalty equals the amount received. Larger payments should come by bank transfer, cheque or UPI.
It depends on your deductions. With a home loan, substantial GPF or insurance payments and HRA, the old regime can still give lower tax; with few deductions the new regime, with its ₹75,000 standard deduction and lower rates, usually comes out ahead. We compute both before filing.
An intimation after processing is routine — it either confirms your figures or shows an adjustment. A defective-return notice or a query on mismatch needs a reply within the time given. Send us the notice and we will explain it and respond.
The fee is fixed and quoted in writing before we start, based on the type of income — a salary-only return costs less than one with capital gains or business income. The first consultation is free.
