Income tax return filing in Noida usually starts with reconciling three documents that rarely agree on the first attempt — the salary certificate, the tax statement and the Annual Information Statement. Noida, in Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, was set up in 1976 as a planned industrial township and now combines some 11,000 industrial units with IT parks, a film and media hub, and the retail district of Sector 18.

Tax VKV Group offers income tax return filing online to taxpayers in Noida: you share your documents, we choose the correct form, compare both tax regimes, show you the computation and file only after you approve it.

What filing an income tax return involves in Noida

A typical return here means reconciling salary from one or more employers, interest and dividends from the Annual Information Statement, and any capital gains — then testing the old regime (HRA, home-loan interest, 80C, 80D) against the new one, where income up to ₹12 lakh is tax-free after rebate. Businesses and professionals add a choice between presumptive taxation and audited books.

Key dates: 31 July for individuals without business income, 31 August for business and professional returns not requiring audit, 31 October for audited cases, and 31 December for a belated return. Income earned from 1 April 2026 falls under the new Income-tax Act, 2025, which calls the year the “tax year”. Uttar Pradesh does not levy professional tax on salaries, so there is no such deduction to look for in your Form 16. For house rent allowance under the old regime, Noida falls in the 40%-of-salary category; the 50% limit applies only to eight notified metro cities.

Earning a living in Noida — and what your return should show

Noida’s taxpayers are largely salaried professionals in IT, media and manufacturing, many of whom live in the city’s group-housing sectors and pay rent. Two local points matter. First, for house rent allowance Noida is not treated as Delhi: it falls in the 40% category, not the 50% that applies to the eight notified metro cities. Second, Uttar Pradesh levies no professional tax, so that line is simply absent from a Noida Form 16. Stock options, mutual-fund gains and under-construction flats bought on loans add the usual complications.

IT and media employees

Two Form 16s after a job change, HRA at the non-metro limit and ESOPs taxed first as salary.

Home-buyers with flats under construction

Interest paid before possession is claimed in five instalments after the flat is handed over — and only under the old regime for a self-occupied house.

Founders and directors

Director’s salary, the company’s own return and unlisted shares to disclose in ITR-2 or ITR-3.

What to watch, by type of taxpayer

Salaried Professionals. Company payrolls compute tax on what the employee declares at the start of the year, and the return is where that estimate is corrected. Proofs not submitted in time, a bonus or joining payment later recovered, notice-pay deductions, leave travel claims and the employer’s contribution to NPS — deductible up to 14% of salary under the new regime — all change the final figure. Income outside salary, such as interest or freelance fees, is never in Form 16.

Investors & Property Sellers. Gains on listed shares and equity funds held over a year are taxed at 12.5% above ₹1.25 lakh; short-term gains at 20%. Property sold after two years is long-term: 12.5% without indexation, with an option of 20% with indexation for property bought before 23 July 2024. Reinvestment exemptions can remove the tax, but only with the right timing.

Founders & Startups. Founders usually have three tax positions at once: director’s remuneration from the company, the company’s own return in ITR-6, and shares or ESOPs that create perquisite and capital-gains questions. Eligible start-up employees can defer tax on ESOPs. Unlisted shares and foreign assets must be disclosed in detail in the personal return.

Why the details in a return matter

  • Tax short-deducted by the employer is still the employee’s liability, payable with interest before the return is filed.
  • The rebate that makes income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free does not apply to capital gains taxed at special rates.
  • Directors and holders of unlisted shares cannot use the simple ITR-1 — filing it makes the return defective.
  • Refunds are issued only after the return is filed, e-verified and processed — and only to a pre-validated bank account.
  • The department already sees interest, dividends, share trades and high-value purchases in the AIS; an unexplained gap produces a notice.

From documents to a filed return: our process

  1. Scoping. We list every income head for the year — salary, business, capital gains, rent, foreign assets — and the schedules each one needs.
  2. Statements and workings. Capital-gains statements, broker reports, rent and loan certificates are converted into return schedules and matched with the AIS.
  3. Review. You receive a computation with the regime comparison, advance-tax position and any disclosure points to confirm.
  4. Filing and after-care. The return is filed and e-verified; intimations, defective-return notices or refund adjustments are handled until closed.

Errors worth checking your return for

These errors recur in returns filed in a hurry or without the tax statement:

“Income tax consultant near me”: what to check in Noida

If you are looking for an income tax consultant near Noida, check how they work before how near they are: do they download your AIS, do they compare both regimes, and do they give you the computation along with the acknowledgement?

Tax VKV Group serves Noida online from Patna — there is no branch here. Every return we file comes with the computation sheet, the acknowledgement and a note of anything to keep in mind for next year.

ITR filing in Noida: common questions

No. The higher limit of 50% of basic salary applies to eight notified cities — Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Ahmedabad. Rent paid for a house in Noida is tested against 40% of salary, even if your office is in Delhi. HRA can be claimed only under the old regime.

Yes. Deductions you are entitled to under the regime you choose can be claimed in the return even if the employer did not allow them, provided you hold the proof. The excess TDS then comes back as a refund. HRA claimed directly in the return needs rent receipts and, above the limit, the landlord’s PAN.

If held for more than two years, the gain is long-term and taxed at 12.5% — or, for property bought before 23 July 2024, the lower of that and 20% with indexation. Buying another house or specified bonds within the time limits can exempt the gain. Send us both deeds and we will compute it.

Directors and anyone holding unlisted shares must use ITR-2, or ITR-3 if they also have business or professional income — never ITR-1 or ITR-4. The return asks for your DIN and the details of each company and shareholding.

A belated return can be filed until 31 December following the financial year, with a late fee of up to ₹5,000 (₹1,000 if income is up to ₹5 lakh) and interest on unpaid tax. After that an updated return is possible for up to 48 months, at an additional tax cost.

Most refunds are credited within a few weeks of e-verification, once the return is processed. Delays usually come from an unvalidated bank account, a mismatch with the tax statement or an old outstanding demand that is being adjusted — all of which we check for.
