Income Tax Filing in Patna
Online Income Tax Return (ITR) Filing assistance for businesses and individuals in Patna.
Patna, the capital of Bihar, stretches along the south bank of the Ganga and is the seat of the state government and the High Court, the state’s largest wholesale and retail market and its main centre for education, healthcare and professional services. Salaried staff, traders, professionals and pensioners here all file on the same portal, but each needs a different form and a different set of checks before the return goes in.
Tax VKV Group works from Patna. Taxpayers here can share documents online or arrange a time to visit the office; either way we choose the correct form, compare both regimes, show you the computation and file only after you approve it.
Serving businesses in Patna online. Our team works from Noida, Uttar Pradesh — we do not run a branch in Patna. Documents are shared over WhatsApp or email and every filing is made on the official government portal.
Income tax return filing in Patna: what is involved
Choosing the form is the first step — ITR-1 for simple salary and interest income, ITR-2 for capital gains or multiple properties, ITR-4 for presumptive business or professional income, ITR-3 for regular books — followed by reconciling Form 16, the tax statement and the Annual Information Statement. Under the new regime, income up to ₹12 lakh carries no tax after rebate, but the return is still required above the basic exemption.
Returns for a financial year are due by 31 July for salaried and other non-business taxpayers, 31 August for business and professional returns without audit, and 31 October where a tax audit applies. From 1 April 2026 the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies and the year is called the “tax year”. Bihar levies professional tax on salaries; the amount your employer deducts is allowed as a deduction under the old regime. For house rent allowance under the old regime, Patna falls in the 40%-of-salary category; the 50% limit applies only to eight notified metro cities.

Who files income tax returns in Patna
As the capital, Patna has the state’s largest concentration of salaried taxpayers — secretariat and directorate staff, bank and insurance employees, university and college teachers, doctors at the government medical colleges. It also has the most professionals: advocates at the High Court, private doctors and hospital consultants, chartered accountants, architects and the owners and faculty of the Boring Road coaching belt. Property is the other theme: flats bought on loans, plots sold on the city’s expanding edge and rent from houses let to students and offices.
Secretariat, bank and university staff
Form 16 with arrears and NPS, and a regime comparison that changes when a home loan is running.
Advocates, doctors and coaching faculty
Professional receipts with TDS from many payers, advance tax and the presumptive option.
Flat owners and plot sellers
Rent from tenants, capital gains on sale and reinvestment within the time limits.
Income tax by type of taxpayer
Government & Bank Staff. Government and bank employees usually have a clean Form 16, but arrears, GPF or NPS contributions, and allowances are where returns go wrong. Salary arrears received in one year can be spread back to the years they relate to by filing Form 10E before the return — skip that form and the relief is denied.
Doctors, Advocates & Consultants. Professionals with receipts up to ₹50 lakh (₹75 lakh if cash receipts are within 5%) may declare half of their receipts as income under the presumptive scheme and file ITR-4. TDS deducted by hospitals, companies and clients appears in the tax statement and must be claimed in full; advance tax is due in a single instalment by 15 March.
Investors & Property Sellers. Gains on listed shares and equity funds held over a year are taxed at 12.5% above ₹1.25 lakh; short-term gains at 20%. Property sold after two years is long-term: 12.5% without indexation, with an option of 20% with indexation for property bought before 23 July 2024. Reinvestment exemptions can remove the tax, but only with the right timing.
Why the details in a return matter
- Employees who receive arrears and file without Form 10E pay tax at a higher slab on money that belonged to earlier years.
- Professionals who ignore advance tax pay interest every year on an amount they could have planned for.
- The rebate that makes income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free does not apply to capital gains taxed at special rates.
- A return filed after the due date carries a late fee and interest, and some losses can no longer be carried forward.
- Banks and visa offices usually ask for the returns of the last two or three years, filed on time.
How we prepare your return
- First conversation. We note your sources of income and tell you exactly which documents are needed — no generic list.
- Reconciliation. Salary, interest, TDS and reported transactions in the AIS are tied to your records; any wrong entry is flagged for feedback on the portal.
- Regime and form. Old and new regimes are computed side by side, the correct ITR form is chosen and the draft is shared with you.
- File, verify, follow up. After your approval we file and e-verify, then track processing, the intimation and the refund.

Most mismatch notices trace back to a short list of errors:
Searching “ITR filing near me” from Patna?
If you are searching “ITR filing near me” from Patna, our office is in the city. The return itself is filed on the e-filing portal and verified by an OTP on your own phone, so a visit is a matter of preference, not necessity.
Call to fix a time if you would like to sit down with your papers; the address and hours are on our contact page. Either way you see the computation before filing and keep your own portal password.
ITR filing in Patna: common questions
Yes. Rent from letting part of a house is income from house property, taxed after a 30% standard deduction and municipal taxes. If you also provide meals and services as a hostel or lodge, it may be business income instead. Either way it is reported in the return.
Not necessarily. Relief is available so that arrears are taxed as if received in the years they belong to. It requires Form 10E to be filed on the portal before the return; we prepare the year-wise working and file both.
The 50% presumptive scheme is for specified professions such as medicine, law, engineering, architecture, accountancy, technical consultancy and interior decoration. Other freelancers may fall under the business presumptive scheme instead. We check your work against the list before choosing the form.
If held for more than two years, the gain is long-term and taxed at 12.5% — or, for property bought before 23 July 2024, the lower of that and 20% with indexation. Buying another house or specified bonds within the time limits can exempt the gain. Send us both deeds and we will compute it.
The new regime has lower rates and makes income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free after rebate, but drops most deductions. The old regime helps when HRA, home-loan interest and investments are large. We compute both every year and show you the difference.
Filing is mandatory above the basic exemption limit and in certain cases regardless of income — large bank deposits, foreign travel spend or high electricity bills, for example. Even when optional, a return is often worth filing to claim a TDS refund or to build income proof for loans.
