FSSAI Registration in Delhi
Online FSSAI Registration & Food License assistance for businesses and individuals in Delhi.
Delhi is both the national capital and northern India’s largest trading centre, with wholesale markets such as Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazar, Khari Baoli, Gandhi Nagar and Nehru Place, industrial areas at Okhla, Narela and Bawana, and a vast services economy. With restaurants, cloud kitchens, packaged-food brands and distributors all operating side by side, the FSSAI category and the “kind of business” selected on the application matter as much as the licence itself.
Tax VKV Group offers FSSAI registration and licensing online to food businesses in Delhi: we confirm the category, prepare and file the application on FoSCoS, answer any query from the authority and send you the certificate — then remind you about the annual fee and return.
Serving businesses in Delhi online. Our team works from Noida, Uttar Pradesh — we do not run a branch in Delhi. Documents are shared over WhatsApp or email and every filing is made on the official government portal.
FSSAI registration in Delhi: which licence you need
The tier depends mainly on turnover — registration up to ₹1.5 crore, State licence up to ₹50 crore, Central licence beyond that or for importers and certain multi-state operations — and on the kind of business selected on FoSCoS. Each premises generally needs its own licence. Since April 2026 a licence or registration no longer expires, but the annual fee and annual return must be kept up or it is treated as suspended.
Registrations and State licences for premises in Delhi are granted by the state’s food safety authority through its designated officers; Central licences are issued by FSSAI’s own regional office. In every case the application, fee payment and certificate are on the FoSCoS portal, so no visit to the office is normally required.
FSSAI in Delhi: the local food business picture
Delhi’s food trade runs from Azadpur’s fruit and vegetable mandi and the spice and dry-fruit godowns of Khari Baoli to the restaurants of Connaught Place and the street-food lanes of the old city. Licences for premises in Delhi are issued by the Delhi food safety department; a business with outlets in Delhi and in Noida or Gurugram is operating in more than one state and needs a Central licence for its head office in addition.
Restaurants and cloud kitchens
Licence per outlet; health-trade and fire clearances are separate requirements.
Spice and dry-fruit wholesalers
Storage and wholesale licence for each godown, with supplier test reports.
Street-food vendors
Basic registration, or deemed registration with a vending certificate.
FSSAI points by type of business
Restaurants, Dhabas & Caterers. Once licensed, an eatery is judged on its kitchen: potable water with a test report, food handlers with annual medical certificates, at least one person trained as a food safety supervisor, cooking oil that is not reused beyond the permitted limit, and the food safety display board on the wall. FSSAI’s hygiene-rating scheme scores exactly these points, and larger chains must also show calorie information on menus.
Distributors, Cold Storages & Transporters. Businesses that never cook or pack — wholesalers, distributors, warehouses, cold storages and food transporters — are still food business operators. Each godown is licensed as a storage or wholesale premises, and transporters register their vehicles. Temperature records for cold chains and pest-control records for godowns are what an inspection checks.
Street Vendors & Small Eateries. A street vendor’s compliance is practical rather than paper-based: clean drinking water and ice, covered food, washed hands and utensils, a dustbin, and nothing wrapped or served in newspaper, which the packaging rules prohibit. Short hygiene trainings are run for vendors under FSSAI’s programmes, and a registered vendor is eligible for municipal vending zones and for bank micro-loans meant for street vendors.
Why the food licence matters
- Complaints from customers go straight to the food safety department through an app, and trigger inspections.
- Companies appoint distributors only after seeing a valid FSSAI licence for the godown address.
- Unregistered vendors are the first to be removed when a market or station area is cleared.
- Operating a food business without a registration or licence is an offence under the Food Safety and Standards Act, with penalties that can run into lakhs of rupees.
- Licences now continue without renewal, but missing the annual fee or return leads to automatic suspension.
How the application works, step by step
- Category check. You tell us what you sell and your turnover; we confirm whether registration or a licence applies and under which kind of business.
- Documents. You send photos of your ID, a passport photograph and proof of the premises over WhatsApp.
- Application. We file on FoSCoS, pay the government fee and share the reference number with you.
- Certificate. Once approved, the certificate with your 14-digit number is sent to you to print and display, and the annual dates go into our reminders.

FSSAI licence in Delhi: common questions
No. Each outlet needs the licence of the state it is in — Delhi for one, Haryana for the other — and because you operate in two states, the head office needs a Central licence as well.
Yes. People who handle food are expected to be medically examined once a year and certified free of infectious disease, and the records kept at the premises. It is one of the first things checked in an inspection.

No. Food packaging rules do not allow newspaper or similar printed paper for wrapping, covering or serving food, because printing ink can contaminate it. Plain food-grade paper, leaves or clean plates are the acceptable alternatives.

Generally yes — each premises where food is handled needs its own registration or licence. A business working in more than one state also needs a Central licence for its head office.
